Syrian Coalition: Russia Conspires With Assad against the Syrian People 
 
 
Louay Safi, spokesman for the Syrian Coalition, said that Russia’s vetoing of a UN Security Council resolution demanding the referral of Bashar al Assad to the International Criminal Court, and the stymieing of the implementation of the UN resolution No. 2139, is unacceptable and corresponds with the positions of the Assad regime. Moreover, Russia’s blocking of all possible punitive measures against the Assad regime in the UN Security Council pits Russia against the aspirations of the Syrian people by contributing to their daily suffering, their killing and intimidation, and the destruction of their homeland." This deliberate blocking of the functions of the UN Security Council raises the need to take measures outside the UN Security Council by the countries that find it necessary to stop the bloodshed and massacres committed by the Assad regime against the children and unarmed civilians.” Safi cited the heinous massacre committed by Assad's forces in Ein Jalout School in Aleppo yesterday, and targeting Badr Addin al-Hasani institute in Damascus, killing dozens of school children and students. “The failure to reach an Arab-international immediate understanding outside the UN Security Council to bypass the Russian veto, will lead to the continued deterioration of the humanitarian situation in Syria and will take the whole into the unknown.” (Source: Syrian Coalition)
 
 
 
 
 
Syrian Coalition Condemns Assad Forces Targeting of Schoolchildren
 
The Syrian Coalition condemns in “the strongest possible terms the Assad regime’s targeting of Ein Jalout School by aerial shelling that claimed the lives of more than 30 schoolchildren, in contravention of a truce that was reached with rebels in the city." Assad regime repeatedly targeted schools across Syria, and regime forces bombed the same school during an arts exhibition held last year, killing 31 civilians, including nine children. Earlier, Human Rights Watch confirmed it had “documented at least 85 strike sites in neighborhoods of Aleppo city,” and that the Assad regime continues to indiscriminately strike “civilians and civilian objects in Aleppo with unguided, high-explosive barrel bombs.” The Syrian Coalition also condemns the regime’s mortar shelling of Badr Addin al-Hassani institute in Al Shaghour district of Damascus yesterday, which resulted in the death of more than 17 children and injuring dozens. In a similar vein, Ahmad Ramadan, member of the political committee, said that the failure of the international community to take urgent and deterrent measures to stop the crimes of the Assad regime emboldens Assad to commit more massacres. Abdel-Rahman Haj, adviser to interim Prime Minister, said that the Assad regime’s systematic targeting of schoolchildren “aims to destroy the future of Syria and to achieve political goals. However, these horrible massacres against childhood and education have always been met with dubious silence, as the world’s response rarely goes beyond condemnation and expressing concern.” Haj points out that “it seems that the bombing of schools is an essential part of Assad’s election campaign. Pro-Assad forces bombed Ein Jalout school in Aleppo today, killing 30 students, while yesterday they shelled Badr Addin al-Hasani Institute in Damascus, killing 25 students. It has become clear that Assad wants to destroy the future of Syria and leave Syrians without any glimpse of hope for a better future." As for the allegations that the rebels have targeted these schools, Haj said that “this is impossible, Assad is trying, through these false accusations, to cover up his crimes. Syrian Journalists Association Condemns Murder of Film Director Bilal Ahmad Bilal
 
Riyad Masas, president of the of Syrian Journalists Association, condemns the murder of the Syrian film director Bilal Ahmad Bilal, who was tortured to death in dungeons of the Assad regime. "Bilal was at the forefront of the protests since the beginning of the Syrian Revolution, and his camera was a witness that conveyed the real image of what happened in demonstration squares where the first seeds of freedom were planted.” Masas also said that “this will convey truth among journalists that this revolution created a new concept in the field of journalism. The loss of such truthful heroes really saddens us, but our consolation is our certainty that one day we will achieve the goals for which they sacrificed their lives. These heroes do not die even though they leave this life, but their deaths become meaningless when we are deflected from the path that they set forth for us." Masas calls upon all human rights organizations to put an immediate end to these brutal acts and violations committed by the Assad regime against journalist and media workers." Syrian Interim Government to Support Families of Schoolboys Massacred in Aleppo
 
The Syrian interim government condemns the daily bombardment of civilian areas across Syria, particularly in Aleppo, where dozens of schoolchildren were killed due to aerial bombing that targeted a school in the neighborhood of Al-Ansari in Aleppo. “The international community's failure to protect the civilians in Syria and the failure to provide the means that enable them to defend themselves is what embolden Assad to commit more crimes. We call on the international community to take urgent and deterrent measures to stop Assad's brutal crimes.” The interim government confirmed that it "is intensifying our contacts with the international organizations concerned with protection of children who to urge them hold the Assad regime accountable.” It also pledged to provide urgent support to the families of the children killed in the aerial bombardment on the school in Aleppo and to rebuild a school Ein Jalout School. Taghrid Al Hajli, Minister of Culture in the interim government, blamed Assad’s daily massacres on the silence of the international community. “We call upon the free world "to pass a resolution that incriminates the bombing of civilians, particularly children in Syria, and also to neutralize the scientific, cultural, religious and archaeological sites from the fighting and bombing. We call upon the Arab states to take urgent action and in all international forums to force the Assad regime to stop the barrel bomb attacks on populated areas in Syria.” (Source: Syrian Coalition)
 
 
 
 
 
Barrel Bomb Attacks Kills Forty Civilians in Aleppo
 
Aleppo Media Center reported that 40 people at least were killed when Assad’s air force dropped four barrel bombs on a marketplace in the neighborhood of Hulluk of Aleppo, while five civilians were killed and ten wounded in an air strike that targeted residential buildings in the neighborhood of Sakhour. Regime forces also conducted artillery shelling on Jisr al-Hajj, killing three people and wounding dozens. Twenty Pro-regime Militiamen Killed by Two Car Bombs in Aleppo

Rebels Advance on Regime Positions in Eastern Qalamoun
 
Activists said that rebels captured Homs Phosphate road in Qalamoun today, which links eastern Homs with Qalamoun. Clashes broke out between regime forces and rebels in the neighborhood of Jobar and on the outskirts of Daryya, with reports of the death of three pro-regime militants. A number of mortar shells fell on Jaramana in East Gouta, killing one person and wounding dozens. Mortar shells also struck Al Abbasyen Square in Damascus, coincided with heavy deployment of regime forces in the area. Regime forces raided the houses in the Greenery Marketplace in Barzeh. The town of Deir Al Assafir in Rural Damascus came under mortar shelling, while Zabadani and Khan Al Sheeh came under barrel bomb attacks. (Source: LCC + Smart News)
 
Rebels Overrun Regime Forces in Tal Mileh Checkpoint in rural Hama
 
Activists said that rebels captured the village of Tal Mileh in western Hama province and seized two tanks, a BMP armored vehicle, a 23 mm gun and a bulldozer. Five pro-regime fighters were killed by rebels in an ambush south of the town of Morek in rural Hama. Regime forces carried out barrel bomb attacks on Morek and Kafr Zeita, while the town of Qastoun came under artillery shelling. (Source: LCC + Smart News)
 
Rebels Capture Battalion 508 in Adwan near Dara’a
 
Activists said that rebel fighters captured the 508th Battalion on the outskirts of the village of Adwan in western Dara’a province and seized weapons and ammo after violent clashes with regime forces. Rebels also captured the town of Tira, while clashes broke out on the outskirts of Manshia district of Dara’a.
